Where is Nakhchivan Located
Nakhchivan is situated in the southwestern part of Azerbaijan and is bordered by Armenia, Iran, and Turkey. It has a diverse geography that includes rolling hills, deep valleys, and the high peaks of the Lesser Caucasus Mountains. Despite its remote location, Nakhchivan is well-connected to the rest of Azerbaijan and the world, thanks to its airports, roads, and rail links.
The city is located on the right bank of the Nakhichevanchay River, right on the border with Iran. The distance from Baku is 993 km. It is separated from the rest of the country by a wedged narrow strip of a foreign state, which was once possible as a result of the collapse of the Russian Empire and the subsequent policy of the communist regime.
Best Time to visit Nakhchivan
The climate in the republic is sharply continental, the temperature ranges from +43°C in the summer and -30 °C. in the winter. During autumn, the temperature should hover around 20 – 25°C and the sky should mostly be clear, allowing you to maximize your time outdoors without the heat of the summer months. The best time to visit Nakhchivan is March to May and September to November
